The Comet is a children's leather racing jacket made to the same recipe as our adult leathers, scaled down. The shell is 100% top-grain cowhide at 1.1–1.2mm, drum dyed — the same hide weight we use on grown-up jackets, not a thin fashion skin.
Removable CE certified armour is included and comes fitted at the shoulders and elbows, with a removable soft-plate back protector. You choose Level 1 or Level 2 above. To be exact about what that means: the certification belongs to the armour inserts. The leather shell is not a certified garment, and we are not claiming it is.
Stretch panels at the shoulders and elbows let a child move naturally in a heavy hide. Sizes run 4–16 years, and if the standard sizes do not fit, choose custom-made and we will cut it to their measurements.

Age labels are a starting point, not a measurement. Measure the child's chest at the fullest point in centimetres, over the layer they will actually wear underneath, and measure sleeve length from the shoulder bone to the wrist. Buying a jacket two sizes big so it lasts longer is the one thing we would ask you not to do: armour only does its job when it sits on the shoulder and elbow, and in an oversized jacket it does not stay there. Send us the measurements before you order and we will tell you which size to take — or choose custom-made and skip the guesswork.
