Motrox Kevlar® Jeans — denim tear strength

EN 17092-1:2020 · Class AA level, Zone 1

Number
18288-26
Issued by
Textile Testing International, Lahore (ISO 17025 accredited)
Issued to
Motrox
Date
7 July 2026

This is a fabric test, not a garment certification. The denim was tested for tear strength to EN 17092-1 after five washes and met the Class AA level (warp 46 N, weft 47 N, Zone 1). The jeans themselves have not been certified as EN 17092 garments. The sample tested was the black denim, which is the same denim used across our Kevlar jeans range. On our copy the applicant's contact details are withheld; the report number, the lab and the dates are left as issued.

What the ratings mean

EN 17092: the garment standard

EN 17092 tests a whole riding garment: abrasion resistance, tear and seam strength, and that it holds impact protectors in the right places. Class AAA is the highest, then AA and A. Class B garments are abrasion tested without impact protectors, and Class C covers under- or over-garments made only to hold armour, with no abrasion protection.

EN 1621: the armour standard

Armour is tested on its own. EN 1621-1 covers shoulder, elbow, hip and knee protectors, and EN 1621-2 covers back protectors. Level 2 lets less impact force through than Level 1. Type A and Type B describe the size and coverage of the protector, not how much force it stops.

CE certified armour does not make the garment around it certified: a garment rating is a separate test.

Certificate or test report?

An EU type-examination certificate is issued by a notified body once a garment's design passes the standard. A lab test report gives the results for the samples the lab tested. Both name the company they were issued to: on our copies the manufacturer's name and address are covered, while the certificate number, the notified body and the dates are left as issued, so a certificate can still be checked with the body that issued it.

A material test is not a garment rating

A material report covers one fabric and the one property that was tested, such as tear strength. It is useful evidence about the cloth, and it is not the same as a garment that has passed the full EN 17092 programme. Where we hold only a material report, we say so on the product and we do not describe the garment as rated or certified.
