Motorcycle clothing is different from regular sportswear, so the wash & care is different too. Leather, textile or a combination of both: each fabric and construction needs its own care.

Rules for all riding gear

  • No bleach or solventsNever use cleaning products with bleach, solvents or other harsh chemicals.
  • No fabric softenerIt destroys the function of technical fabrics and membranes.
  • Gentle and separateMachine-washable gear goes in on its own, on a gentle cycle at 30°C.
  • Dry it naturallyAt room temperature, away from heaters, hairdryers and direct sunlight.
  • Check the labelThe wash and care label inside every Motrox item has the final say.

How to wash Motrox Kevlar motorcycle jeans

Always follow the washing and care label in your Motrox jeans.

  • Cold or max 30°C
  • No bleach
  • No fabric softener
  • Avoid the dryer
  • Air dry
  • Freeze out odours

Before you start

  • Take out any armour pads or removable layers.
  • Turn the jeans inside out to protect the outer fibres and keep the colour.

Step by step

  1. WashUse a short, mild cycle with cold water or at a maximum of 30°C.
  2. DetergentUse a motorcycle clothing detergent. No bleach, no fabric softener.
  3. DryAir dry your jeans. If you do tumble dry, use a mild temperature setting and keep it short.

Never

  • Bleach or fabric softener
  • Washing them more than you need to: too often and they may fade or lose their effectiveness over time

How to wash Motrox motorcycle jeans

Our motorcycle jeans are not your average denim: the technical materials need specialised care. Always follow the wash and care label in your jeans.

  • Max 30°C, gentle

  • Drip dry

Before you start

  • Remove all armour.
  • Turn your jeans inside out.
  • Close all zippers and buttons so they can't damage other fabrics on the garment.

Step by step

  1. WashWaterproof or not, wash them in the machine, on their own, at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle cycle.
  2. Skip the softenerNever use fabric softener: it destroys the functionality of the jeans.
  3. DryHang your jeans out to drip dry at room temperature.

How to clean a Motrox leather race suit

Proper cleaning keeps your leather suit durable, flexible and looking sharp. Read any care instructions that came with your suit, and test any cleaner on a hidden spot first.

What you need

  • Mild leather cleaner or leather soap
  • Soft microfibre cloths or sponges
  • Lukewarm water
  • A soft-bristled brush (optional, for stitching and textured areas)

Step by step

  1. Surface cleanWipe off dust and debris with a dry microfibre cloth. Then wipe the suit with a cloth dipped in lukewarm water and wrung out.
  2. Leather cleanerPut a little leather cleaner on a damp cloth or sponge and clean gently in circular motions, focusing on visible dirt. Use the soft brush on stitching and textured areas.
  3. StainsMild stains: a slightly damp cloth with a drop of leather cleaner. Tough stains: mix a little cleaner with water, dab it on, leave it a few minutes, then wipe it off.
  4. Rinse and dryWipe the suit with a clean, damp cloth to remove any residue, then hang it to dry in a well-ventilated, shaded place.
  5. ConditionOnce it's completely dry, rub a little leather conditioner in with a soft cloth in circular motions. Let it absorb for a few hours, then buff with a dry cloth.
  6. Odours and liningUse a leather-safe odour eliminator, or air the suit with a bowl of baking soda nearby (not touching it). Take out a removable lining and hand-wash it following its instructions.

Never

  • Scrubbing hard: it can damage the leather's surface
  • Direct sunlight, hairdryers or heaters: they dry out and crack the leather
  • Long exposure to rain or moisture: if it gets wet, pat it dry and condition it straight away

How to care for Motrox leather jackets and pants

Regular care keeps your leather looking great. No machine, no dry cleaner: a cloth, a cleaner and a conditioner do the job.

Step by step

  1. CleanWipe dirt off with a soft, damp cloth. Use leather cleaner for tougher spots, in circular motions.
  2. DryAir dry naturally in a shaded, ventilated area.
  3. ConditionApply a leather conditioner every 3–6 months to keep the leather soft and prevent cracks.
  4. OdoursAir it out, or put baking soda nearby (not directly on the leather).
  5. StoreHang it on a padded hanger in a cool, dry place, in a breathable garment bag.

Never

  • Machine washing or dry cleaning
  • Harsh chemicals or scrubbing
  • Direct heat or sunlight

How to wash Motrox textile gear

Whether it's your well-ventilated mesh summer jacket or your all-weather, all-year garment, get the most mileage out of it with these wash & care instructions.

  • Remove all inner liners and armour.
  • Close all zippers and hook-and-loop fasteners so they can't damage other fabrics on the garment.

Step by step

  1. Use a textile washClean textile and waterproof garments with a specially formulated textile wash. It removes stains without damaging membranes and breathable fabrics.
  2. WashGarments with waterproof, breathable membranes can go in the machine: on their own, at a maximum of 30°C, on a gentle cycle.
  3. DryHang your garment to drip dry at room temperature.

Never

  • Fabric softener: it destroys the function of the membrane

How to clean Motrox motorcycle gloves

Our gloves come in a wide variety of materials, sometimes mixed in one pair, with a broad range of features. Keeping them in top form keeps them working.

  • Hand clean
  • No machine wash
  • No dry cleaning
  • Dry away from heat

Step by step

  1. Clean by handUse a damp cloth. No hot water.
  2. StainsRemove difficult stains with a neutral soap or a special leather or textile cleaner.
  3. Dry fullyMake sure your gloves are completely dry before you put them away. Gloves stored wet, or somewhere without air, can deform and get damaged.
  4. StoreKeep them in a dry, well-ventilated place, out of direct sunlight and away from heat.

Never

  • Solvents, fabric softener, petrol or cleaning agents: they can change the gloves' properties, colour included
  • Direct heat or sunlight: the material goes stiff
  • A washing machine, dry cleaner or pressure washer: heat and pressure can damage the hand protection

How to care for Motrox motorcycle boots

Your boots go wherever you go. Give them the care they deserve and they'll keep working for you for a long time. Each material needs its own treatment.

Step by step

  1. Dry firstLet wet boots dry naturally at room temperature. Only clean them when they're dry inside and out.
  2. Brush offRemove dust and dirt with a cloth or a soft shoe brush. Don't forget the sole.
  3. StainsRemove difficult stains with a leather cleaner.
  4. ConditionTreat leather boots regularly with a leather conditioner.

By leather type

Waxed pull-up leather
Colourless leather grease, or shoe polish in the same colour as the leather. The pull-up character comes back after a while.
Full grain leather
Colourless leather grease, or polish in the same colour as the leather.
Suede
Clean and care with a brush only. You can treat suede with a water-repellent spray.

Never

  • A heater, heat source or direct sunlight
  • Leather grease or polish on suede
  • Water-repellent spray on full grain boots: it closes the pores and stops the boot breathing

How to wash MOTO-TEX gear

With their "Guaranteed to keep you dry™" promise, MOTO-TEX stands behind its technical membrane. To keep it working for years, it needs special care.

  • 40°C permanent press
  • No bleach
  • No fabric softener
  • Tumble dry low

Before you start

  • Remove all inner liners and armour.
  • Close all zippers and hook-and-loop fasteners so they can't damage other fabrics on the garment.

Step by step

  1. WashGarments with a MOTO-TEX membrane can go in the machine: a warm permanent-press cycle (40°C) with a small amount of liquid detergent.
  2. RinseRinse twice, and keep spinning to a minimum to reduce creasing.
  3. DryLine dry, or tumble dry on a warm, gentle cycle.
  4. ReactivateOnce dry, tumble dry for 20 minutes to reactivate the durable water-repellent (DWR) treatment on the outer fabric.

Never

  • Powder detergent, fabric softener, conditioners, stain removers or bleach
  • Scrubbing the waterproof, breathable membrane
  • Intense heat, a radiator or long direct sunlight
